Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractors use specific, gentle adjustments to help correct imbalances in the spine and extremities. Chiropractors often use their hands to deliver a precisely directed force into the spine or may also use specialised instruments to make these adjustments, such as the drop pieces within the adjusting table, portable drop piece for extremity work, Activator and blocks. This reduces nerve irritation, muscle tension and improves blood flow and allows the body to function better. Although there are many varied techniques, the intent is always the same, to remove subluxations which may be inhibiting ones full health potential.

Dr David will adjust his technique according to the presentation of the patient.

The primary adjusting techniques used within the clinic include:

Diversified

One of the most commonly used methods whereby a specific manual thrust is delivered to the spine or extremities to restore lost function.

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

A form of diagnosis in which muscle testing provides feedback as to how an individual’s body is functioning. AK considers the triad of health, which consists of structural, chemical and mental factors to describe the overall balance of health and well-being.

Cranial

A very gentle technique based on the relationship between movement of the cranial Dura and the sacrum, largely affecting the central nervous system.

Activator

A system of various movements and tests allow the Chiropractor to determine the location of the subluxation, and then using the Activator Instrument deliver a consistent low-force, high-speed adjustment. Often used in conjunction with manual techniques and is great for infants, children and the elderly.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)

Sacro Occipital Technique is highly neurologically based and helps to reduce distortion patterns between the pelvis and head, using the patient’s weight on wedge shaped blocks to correct the necessary subluxations.

Thompson

Using the theory that subluxations produce leg length inequality, the Chiropractor can evaluate the patient and from there use the drop piece table to adjust, requiring less force than a manual adjustment.

Dr David will also incorporate soft tissue therapy, stretching and mobilisation techniques to areas he feels necessary.

Wise Words

"I have to have an adjustment before I go into the ring. I do believe in Chiropractic. I found that going to a Chiropractor regularly helps my performance. The majority of boxers go to get that edge."
