Chiropractic & Sport
Dr David has come from a sporting background himself, and coupled with a degree in Exercise Science, understands the specific nature and requirements needed to help athletes perform optimally. It makes sense that when your body is better aligned, your nervous system is finely tuned and able to fire on all cylinders. Hence, athletic qualities such as reaction time, co-ordination, balance, strength and endurance are improved, leading to performance enhancement, fewer injuries and generally a quicker recovery.
This is supported by the study from Lauro & Mouch (1991) who indicated Chiropractic care could improve athletic performance by as much as 16.7% over a two week period. The report indicated that athletes free of subluxation were faster to react, had better co-ordination and executed fine movements with improved accuracy and precision.
Both Dr David and Jason appreciate that whether it is a top level athlete or weekend warrior, injury prevention and management is crucial for the athlete to continue at their best. Advice is given in these areas to help either stretch over tight musculature, strengthen weakened or inhibited muscle groups and improve core stability. Put simply, Chiropractors focus on the entire structure of the body rather than just the obviously injured part. For this reason, they can detect and help to prevent an injury that might normally be overlooked.
Miami Chiropractic & Remedial sees a great diversity of sporting groups including elite level tri-athletes, swimmers, surf life saving competitors, surfers, runners, gymnasts and dancers, tennis and baseball players, and golfers, through to athletes competing in skateboarding, wakeboarding and motor cross.
It makes sense that if top level athletes such as Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger receive regular Chiropractic adjustments to perform at their best, it can work for you too, no matter the level or type of sport you participate in.
